Old Shute House

See also: New Shute House Old Shute House (known as Shute Barton between about 1789 and the 20th century), located at Shute, near Colyton, Axminster, Devon, is the remnant of a mediaeval manor house with Tudor additions, today in the ownership of the National Trust. It was given a Grade I listing on 14 December 1955. It is one of the most important non-fortified manor houses of the Middle Ages still in existence.

Moridunum (Axminster)

Moridunum was a fort and small town in the Roman province of Britannia. Its remains are located at Woodbury Farm, immediately south of Axminster in the English county of Devon. The square fort was built at the intersection of two Roman roads, the Fosse Way and Durnovaria-Isca Dumnoniorum road, apparently in the 2nd century. Its ditch survives around much of the site.

Axminster Museum

Axminster Museum is a town museum situated in the Old Police Station and Courthouse opposite St. Mary's Church in the centre of the town of Axminster, Devon. It was founded in 1982. The collections include exhibits related to the town's carpet industry founded by Thomas Whitty in 1755. There are also agricultural tools, archaeological finds, Coins and Medals, Costumes and Textiles, old photographs, archives and occasional special exhibitions.

Seaton Tramway

The Seaton Tramway is an 838mm narrow gauge electric tramway which operates over the route of a former British Railways branch line in Seaton, Devon. The line was converted between 1969 and 1971 by Claude Lane, who had bought the line from BR and had successfully operated trams in Eastbourne as a visitor attraction. The 3-mile route runs through East Devon's Axe Valley, between the coastal resort of Seaton, the small village of Colyford and the ancient town of Colyton.
