Brora Coalfield
The Brora Coalfield is a coalfield on the east coast of Sutherland in northern Scotland. The 'Brora Main' is a 1m to 1.5m thick seam which has been mined in the Brora area. It is unusual amongst British coalfields in being of Jurassic age rather than Carboniferous. The first seams to be worked were those exposed along the North Sea coast though inland mining began in the early nineteenth century. Mining continued until the 1970s; its principal market being the nearby brickworks.

River Brora
The River Brora is an east-flowing river in Sutherland in the Highlands of Scotland which is formed as its headwater streams, the Féith Osdail, Allt Gobhlach and Allt nan Con-uisge meet at Dalnessie before flow southeastwards down Strath Brora to Dalreavoch. The river turns briefly northeast then east and then southeastwrads once again to pass through the three distinct basins of Loch Brora to enter the Moray Firth on the North Sea at the town of Brora.

Battle of Skibo and Strathfleet
The Battle of Skibo and Strathfleet was prompted by Clan Donald's invasion of the area around Dornoch in northern Scotland in 1480. Two attacks were repulsed by the local clans of Clan Sutherland and Clan Murray.
