This page is about a hamlet in East Lothian, Scotland. See also: Bolton, Greater Manchester. Bolton is a hamlet and the third smallest parish in East Lothian, Scotland. It lies approximately 2 miles south of Haddington and 20 miles east of Edinburgh, and is an entirely agricultural parish, 6 miles long by about 1.25 miles wide. The most notable buildings in the hamlet are the Parish Church, and an 18th-century dovecote or "doo'cot".

East Lothian

East Lothian (Scots: Aest Lowden, Scottish Gaelic: Siorrachd Lodainn an Ear), is one of the 32 council areas of Scotland, and a lieutenancy area. It borders the City of Edinburgh, Midlothian and the Scottish Borders. Its administrative centre is Haddington, although its largest town is Musselburgh. The council area was created in 1996, under the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994, with the boundaries of the East Lothian district of the Lothian region.

St Mary's Collegiate Church, Haddington

The Collegiate Church of St Mary the Virgin is a Church of Scotland parish church in Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland. Building work on the church was started in 1380, and further building and rebuilding has taken place up to the present day. It is the longest church in Scotland, at 206 feet (62.8 metres) from east to west, and is in the early Gothic style.

Haddington, East Lothian

The Royal Burgh of Haddington is a town in East Lothian, Scotland. It is the main administrative, cultural and geographical centre for East Lothian, which was known officially as Haddingtonshire before 1921. It lies about 20 miles east of Edinburgh. The name Haddington is Anglo-Saxon, dating from the 6th or 7th century AD when the area was incorporated into the kingdom of Bernicia.
