Hartwood is a village in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. Nearby settlements include Shotts, Allanton and Bonkle. The area is rural, with fewer than 50 houses. James Inglis Hamilton

General James Inglis Hamilton, (before 1742 – 27 July 1803) was a Scottish soldier. He enlisted the British Army in 1755 and he commanded several regiments. He was the only colonel of the 113th Regiment of Foot. During the Seven Years' War (1756–1763), Hamilton fought in the Siege of Fort St Philip, the Raid on St Malo, and the Capture of Belle Île.

Shottskirk

Shottskirk otherwise known as Kirk O' Shotts Parish Church is a local church located in Salsburgh North Lanarkshire. The church is still operational and is a listed building. It can be seem from the nearby M8 Motorway and is often illuminated at night. The graveyard contains stones from 1624 during the covenanters times. The nearby Fortissat area contains the remains of the fortissat stone, a covenanters gathering place.

Airdrie and Shotts (UK Parliament constituency)

Airdrie and Shotts is a constituency of the British House of Commons, located in central Scotland within the North Lanarkshire council area. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) at least once every five years using the first-past-the-post system of voting. The constituency has existed since 1997; however, it underwent significant boundary changes in 2005. It can be described as a safe seat for the Labour Party, who hold it with a majority of over 12,000 votes.

North Lanarkshire

North Lanarkshire (Scots: North Lanrikshire, Scottish Gaelic: Siorrachd Lannraig a Tuath) is one of 32 council areas of Scotland. It borders onto the northeast of the City of Glasgow and contains much of Glasgow's suburbs and commuter towns and villages. It also borders East Dunbartonshire, Falkirk, Stirling, South Lanarkshire and West Lothian. The council covers parts of the traditional counties of Dunbartonshire, Lanarkshire and Stirlingshire.
