New Aberdour

A small 19th century planned village, New Aberdour lies just south of the Moray Firth Coast, 7 miles west of Fraserburgh. One of the earliest churches in Scotland, is said to have been founded here in 580 AD by Saint Drostan and Saint Columba.

Strichen Stone Circle

Strichen Stone Circle is a small Megalithic period stone circle located in the north east of Scotland, near Strichen, Aberdeenshire. Strichen stone circle stands on a hill near Strichen House. In 1773 it was visited by James Boswell and Samuel Johnson, as the lexicographer was desirous of seeing a "druid's temple". They found only the recumbent stone with its flankers, and one other stone. The arrangement was completely destroyed around 1830, and again, after reconstruction, in 1960.

Dundarg Castle

Dundarg Castle is a ruined castle about 2 kilometres north-northeast of New Aberdour, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It was one of the The Nine Castles of Knuckle. It was built in the thirteenth century by the Comyn family, and subsequently dismantled, probably by Robert the Bruce, in 1308. It was rebuilt in 1334, but destroyed almost immediately, after a famous siege. Evidence of this double destruction was confirmed by excavations during 1911-12 and in 1950-51 when many medieval objects were found.

Rosehearty

Rosehearty, Rizarty in the local dialect, is located on the Moray Firth coast, four miles west of the town Fraserburgh, in the historical county of Aberdeenshire in Scotland. The burgh has a population of approximately 1,300 with about 25 per cent of pensionable age. There is one shop, a butcher, a hairdresser and three hotels in the village. The settlement which is now Rosehearty was founded by a group of shipwrecked Danes in the 14th century.
