Swansea Canal

The Swansea Canal was a canal constructed by the Swansea Canal Navigation Company between 1794 and 1798, running for some 16.5 miles from Swansea to Hen Neuadd, Abercraf in South Wales. It was steeply graded, and 36 locks were needed to enable it to rise 373 feet over its length. The main cargos were coal, iron and steel, and the enterprise was profitable. Sold to the Great Western Railway in 1873, it continued to make a profit until 1895.

Cwm Clydach RSPB Reserve

For the village in the Rhondda Valley, see Clydach Vale and for the national nature reserve in the Clydach Gorge, see Cwm Clydach National Nature Reserve Cwm Clydach is a nature reserve on the outskirts of Clydach, Swansea. It is run by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. It is ancient broadleaved woodland and is home to breeding pied flycatchers, redstarts, dippers and buzzards. The Lower Clydach River flows through the centre of the reserve.

Mynydd Drumau

Mynydd Drumau (meaning "Mountain of the Ridges" in English) is a mountain in south Wales lying on the border between Swansea and the county of Neath Port Talbot. It is 272m / 892ft high. The mountain is situated in a suburban and rural upland zone and is dotted with a number of farms and woodlands. Villages and suburbs lining the foot of the mountain include: Skewen, Birchgrove, Bryncoch, Rhos and Glais.

Bryncoch North

Bryncoch North is an electoral ward of Neath Port Talbot county borough, Wales forming part of the parish of Blaenhonddan. Bryncoch North covers some or all of the following Areas: Bryncoch and Gilfach in the parliamentary constituency of Neath. It is bounded by the wards of Allt-Wen and Rhos to the north; Cadoxton to the east; Bryncoch South to the south and Dyffryn to the west.

Bryncoch

Bryncoch is a suburb of the town of Neath in Neath Port Talbot County Borough, Wales. The name derives from the Welsh 'red hill' (bryn coch), originally the name of a nearby farm. Bryncoch is divided into two wards: Bryncoch North and Bryncoch South. The area is one of the most affluent parts of the county borough, with 29% and 35% of households in the Bryncoch North and Bryncoch South respectively earning more than £40,000 per year.
