Mynydd Bach Trecastell

Mynydd Bach Trecastell is a hill on the border between the counties of Carmarthenshire and Powys in southwest Wales. It lies within the Black Mountain region of the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr Geopark. Its summit is plateau-like and reaches a height of 412m at OS grid ref SN 827312 at Y Pigwn. The name signifies the 'little hill of castle town'.

Usk Reservoir

The Usk Reservoir is located in the upper Usk Valley, at 1,050 feet above sea level, in Carmarthenshire, south Wales. The reservoir is situated in part of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Completed in 1955, it now covers some 280 acres of land. It can be located just off the minor road between Trecastle and Llanddeusant, 7 miles west of Sennybridge. On January 6, 2008 (Unofficially) a temperature of −16.5 °C was recorded nearby.

Mynydd Myddfai

Mynydd Myddfai is a hill 4.5 miles southeast of Llandovery in the county of Carmarthenshire, southwest Wales. It lies within the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr Geopark. The hill is in the form of a broad ridge aligned southwest to northeast with three or four distinct tops separated by cols. The northwest side drops steeply away towards the village of Myddfai whilst the other side is a more shallow slope down towards Glasfynydd Forest which encircles Usk Reservoir.

Afon Hydfer

The Afon Hydfer is a short river in Powys in the west of the Brecon Beacons National Park, south Wales. Its headwaters rise on the northeastern slopes of the Black Mountain as the streams named Trinant, Nant y Cadno, Nant yr Erydr and Crognant joining to flow down Cwm yr Afon on the western edge of Glasfynyd Forest. The river turns east at Blaenau Uchaf, then northeast through Cwm Hydfer and joins the River Usk just below Pont ar Hydfer.

Llywel is a small village that gives its name to Llywel community in Powys, Wales. The main settlement in the community is Trecastle. According to the 2001 Census the population of Llywel community is 524.
