Mold and Denbigh Junction Railway

The Mold and Denbigh Junction Railway was a 15+⁄4-mile link railway in North Wales, between the Mold Railway and the Vale of Clwyd Railway. It was incorporated on 6 August 1861 and closed to passengers in 1962.

Ysceifiog

Ysceifiog, also written Ysgeifiog, is a small village, community and parish in Flintshire, Wales. It lies on a back road just north of the A541 highway between Nannerch and Caerwys. The name translates roughly as "a place where elder trees grow". The parish includes the villages of Lixwm, to the east of Ysceifiog village, and Babell, to the north.

Clwydian Range

The Clwydian Range is a series of hills and mountains in north east Wales that runs from Llandegla in the south to Prestatyn in the north, with the highest point being the popular Moel Famau. The range is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. The summits of these hills provide extensive views across north Wales, to the high peaks of Snowdonia, eastwards across the Cheshire Plain, Peak District and towards Manchester and Liverpool to the northeast.

Afon-wen

Afonwen is a town in Flintshire, Wales. It is situated just under four miles from the A55 North Wales Expressway and on the A541 Mold-Denbigh road. At the 2001 Census, the population of Afonwen was included into the civil parish of Caerwys and was 1,319, with a total ward population of 2,496.

Penycloddiau

Penycloddiau (Welsh for "hill of the trenches") is a hill in Flintshire, North Wales and is the northernmost marilyn in the Clwydian Range. Offa's Dyke Path crosses the summit, and the Clwydian Way skirts the western slopes. Like Foel Fenlli further south, Penycloddiau has an iron-age hill fort around the summit area. At 26 hectares, it is one of the largest hill forts in Wales.
