Pontycymer

Pontycymer is a former mining village in Wales. It is situated in the Garw Valley, in Bridgend County Borough . The name, sometimes spelled "Pontycymmer", is Welsh: pont signifies "bridge", while cymer signifies "confluence" of watercourses. Original signs for the village use the incorrect spelling of Pontycymmer. Recent signage and postoffice records have now been changed to the correct spelling.

River Cynon

The River Cynon is a river in South Wales and is one of the larger tributaries of the River Taff. It arises within Cwm Cadlan in the Brecon Beacons National Park as the Nant Cadlan and is supplemented by a number of small streams arising from springs in the Carboniferous Limestone and Twrch Sandstone in the vicinity of Penderyn. The spring of Llygad Cynon is a notable example. However the young river soon crosses into the Carboniferous Coal Measures as it passes through Hirwaun.

Treorchy Comprehensive School

Treorchy railway station

Treorchy railway station is a railway station serving the town of Treorchy and village of Cwmparc in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It is located on the Rhondda Line. It was first opened on this site by the Taff Vale Railway in 1884.

Parc and Dare Hall

The Parc and Dare Hall is a former Miners' institute but now serves as a large entertainment venue in the village of Treorchy, in the Rhondda Valley of Wales. Since the demolition of the Abercynon Workingmen's Hall, the Parc and Dare Workingmen's Hall is the largest in the South Wales coalfield.
