Interesting facts about this location

Arcola, Alabama

Arcola is a ghost town on the Black Warrior River in Hale County, Alabama. Named to honor the French victory during the Battle of Arcola, it was established in the early 1820s by former French Bonapartists as part of their Vine and Olive Colony, after they were forced to abandon their first town at Demopolis and many found Aigleville unsuitable. The first settler at the site was Frederic Ravesies, who established himself at what later became the Hatch Plantation.

Prairieville is an unincorporated community in Hale County, Alabama. It is the location of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, one of Alabama's National Historic Landmarks. It also has three other sites on the National Register of Historic Places, Battersea, Bermuda Hill, and Hawthorne.

WXAL

WXAL is an American radio station licensed to serve Demopolis, Alabama. Since August 2011, the station has been owned by Westburg Broadcasting Alabama, LLC. It airs an urban contemporary and urban oldies music format. Much of the stations programming was previously derived from ESPN Radio. The station was assigned the "WXAL" call sign by the Federal Communications Commission. WXAL has served Demopolis for more than 60 years. During most of the 1980s, WXAL played music and had a Top 40 format.
