Colbert County, Alabama

Colbert County is a county of the U.S. state of Alabama. Its name is in honor of brothers George and Levi Colbert, Chickasaw Indian chiefs. George Colbert operated a ferry across the Tennessee River in 1790 near present day Cherokee. The county seat of Colbert County is Tuscumbia. It is part of the Florence - Muscle Shoals Metropolitan Statistical Area known as "The Shoals". As of the 2010 census the county's population was 54,428.

WYLE (TV)

WYLE was a commercial television station in Florence, Alabama, broadcasting locally on UHF channel 26 as an affiliate of Jewelry TV. Founded January 11, 1982, it was most recently owned by ETC Communications Inc. The station had been silent since February 8, 2007 due to financial difficulties, and its license was canceled by the Federal Communications Commission on March 12, 2009 due to failure to transmit for a period of twelve consecutive months.

WBTG-FM (106.3 FM, "Gospel Power 106") is a radio station licensed to serve Sheffield, Alabama. The station was founded by Paul Slatton and is owned by Slatton & Associates Broadcasters, Inc. It airs a Southern Gospel music format. Founded as WBTG on February 1, 1978, the station was assigned the WBTG-FM call letters by the Federal Communications Commission on December 17, 1987, when its newly-acquired sister station at 1290 AM changed callsigns from WHCM to WBTG.
