Sumiton, Alabama

Sumiton is a city in Jefferson and Walker Counties in the U.S. state of Alabama. At the 2010 census the population was 2,520. A long-track EF3 tornado struck Sumiton on April 24, 2010. The rotation started in Parrish. It later crossed into Cordova on Highway 78 and expired after reaching Interstate 65 near Highway 160 southwest of Hayden.
