The Elmer E. Rasmuson Library is the largest library in the U.S. state of Alaska, housing just under one million volumes. It is located on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus. It is named in honor of Elmer E. Rasmuson, who supported its expansion. The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner Midnight Sun Run is a ten kilometer road running event, held annually since 1983 in Fairbanks, Alaska, that attracts participants from across the United States and Canada. The race takes place on the third Saturday of June each year, starting at 10 pm with the boom of a cannon that can be heard throughout Fairbanks.
