Matanuska River
The Matanuska River is a river, approximately 75 miles (120 km) long, in Southcentral Alaska, United States. It drains a broad valley south of the Alaska Range known as the Matanuska Valley. Its headwaters are at Matanuska Glacier in the northern Chugach Mountains, approximately 100 miles (160 km) northeast of Anchorage. It flows generally west-southwest through the Mat-Su Valley, between the Chugach range to the south and the Talkeetna Mountains to the north.

Chugiak, Anchorage
Chugiak is an unincorporated community in the Municipality of Anchorage in the U.S. state of Alaska, situated approximately 20 miles (32 km) northeast of downtown Anchorage. It is located between Eagle River to the south, and Eklutna to the north, and between Knik Arm to the west and the Chugach Mountains to the east. There are about 8300 residents, most of whom work in Anchorage or the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, and are spread out mainly along the Glenn Highway.

Mat-Su Regional Medical Center is a 74-bed general hospital in the U.S. state of Alaska owned by Community Health Systems (CHS). Located between Palmer and Wasilla, it is the principal hospital for the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. Built at a cost of $87,700,000 to replace the aging Valley Hospital, the hospital began construction in spring 2004 and opened on January 27, 2006.
