Agua Caliente in Maricopa County, Arizona is a place north of the Gila River near Hyder, Arizona. The location was the site of a resort established at the site of nearby hot springs. Agua Caliente, as the name implies, were hot springs which were originally used by the local Indians.

Hyder Valley
The Hyder Valley is a 20 mile (32 km) long valley section of the Gila River Valley at Hyder on the Gila River. The valley is located north of Gila River in southwest Arizona in the northwestern Sonoran Desert. The Park Valley, which crosses the Gila borders to the southwest; the Hyder Valley is the access route to the Dendora Valley northeast which is on the western border of the Painted Rock Dam and Reservoir.

Sentinel Plain
The Sentinel Plain is an extensive northwest-southeast trending plain south of the Gila River Valley in southwestern Arizona, USA. It is centered on the community of Sentinel, Arizona located on Interstate 8, approximately 35 miles west of Gila Bend. The Sentinel Plain is about 40 miles long and on the north-northwest, it borders the Hyder Valley and the farming community of Hyder on the Gila River. To the northeast is Painted Rock Reservoir and the Painted Rock Mountains.

Battle of Stanwix Station
Stanwix Station, in western Arizona, was a stop on the Butterfield Overland Mail Stagecoach line built in the later 1850s near the Gila River about 80 miles east of Yuma, Arizona. Originally the station was called Flap Jack Ranch later Grinnell's Ranch or Grinnell's Station. In 1862, Grinnell's was listed on the itinerary of the California Column in the same place as Stanwix Ranch or Stanwix Station which became the site of the westernmost skirmish of the American Civil War.

The Dendora Valley is a small valley on the Gila River west of Painted Rock Dam and Reservoir. The valley is north of the river, and is the valley west of the north-south Painted Rock Mountains which form the western end of the Painted Rock Reservoir. The Dendora Valley is only about 9 miles long.
