First Battle of Dragoon Springs

The First Battle of Dragoon Springs was a minor skirmish between a small troop of Confederate dragoons, of Governor John R. Baylor's Company A, Arizona Rangers, and a band of Apache warriors during the American Civil War. It was fought on May 5, 1862, near the present-day town of Benson, Arizona, in the Confederate Arizona Territory.

The Thing? is an Arizona roadside attraction hyped by signs along Interstate 10 between El Paso, Texas, and Tucson, Arizona. Teaser ads, such as The Thing? What is it? and Mystery of the Desert, entice travelers along this sparse stretch of desert highway to stop, just to find out what the mysterious Thing? might be. Such billboards are similar to signage seen in the South as drivers approach the South of the Border near Dillon, South Carolina and Rock City near Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Mount Glenn

At 7,520 ft. (2292 m), Mount Glenn is the seventh highest mountain in Cochise County, Arizona. Located approximately 75 miles east of Tucson, Arizona, it is the highest mountain in the Dragoon mountain range and a popular local hiking destination.

Texas Canyon

Texas Canyon is located in Cochise County, Arizona about 20 miles east of Benson on Interstate 10 and lies between the Little Dragoon Mountains on the north and the Dragoon Mountains to the south. Known for the giant granite boulders, the canyon frequently attracts rockhounds and photographers.

Mae West Peaks

Mae West Peaks (also known as Lime Peak) is a pair of summits in Cochise County, Arizona. Located in the Little Dragoon Mountains 1.8 miles southwest of the actual Lime Peak, the summits are just northwest of Texas Canyon and 3.3 miles west-southwest of the ghost town of Johnson, Arizona. These peaks were named for their shape, reminiscent of the actress Mae West's figure.
