Hayden Smelter is a smelter at Hayden, Arizona, owned and operated by ASARCO. It has a 305 meter (1,000 feet) tall chimney, which is the tallest free-standing structure of Arizona. In 2011, the EPA took action against the smelter for releasing "illegal amounts of lead, arsenic and eight other dangerous compounds."

Christmas, Arizona

Christmas is an uninhabited mining community in Gila County, Arizona, United States. The mine which prompted creation of the town was staked on Christmas Day 1902, prompting the name. During the three decades in which the town's post office operated it was a popular destination for holiday mail seeking a "Christmas" postmark.
