Battle of Cotton Plant

The Battle of Cotton Plant (also known as the Battle of Hill's Plantation or the Battle of Cache River) occurred on July 7, 1862, in Woodruff County, Arkansas, during the American Civil War. During the summer of 1862, Union Maj. Gen. Samuel R. Curtis planned to move his army toward Helena, Arkansas, in search of supplies to replace those that had been promised but never delivered by the US Navy.

Bayou des Arc

Bayou des Arc is a 74-mile-long river in Arkansas. It is a tributary of the White River, into which it flows near the city of Des Arc in Prairie County, Arkansas. It rises in northwest White County, Arkansas, near the town of Rose Bud.

Des Arc High School

Des Arc High School is a comprehensive public high school located in Des Arc, Arkansas, United States. The school provides secondary education in grades 7 through 12 for students in Des Arc and Prairie County and Lonoke County communities encompassing 265.68 square miles of land including all or portions of Des Arc, Briscoe, Carlisle, Ward, Griffithville, and Lonoke. It is one of five public high schools in Prairie County and the only high school administered by the Des Arc School District.

Georgetown, Arkansas

Georgetown is a town in southeastern White County, Arkansas, United States, overlooking the White River. First settled in 1789 before the Louisiana Purchase, the community is the oldest continuously settled area in Arkansas. The settlement of Arkansas Post, which began in 1686, came more than a century earlier, though that community dissolved in the years following the American Civil War. The state's next oldest community after Georgetown — Batesville — was founded approximately 21 years later.
