Mount Eden, California

Mount Eden, also known as Eden Township, is a former city that has been incorporated into Hayward in Alameda County, California, United States of America. It lies at an elevation of 43 feet (13 m). Mount Eden was founded in 1850 by a group of farmers from Mount Eden, Kentucky, drawn to California by the Gold Rush. The party disbanded upon reaching the San Francisco Bay, but a few of them settled at a road crossing. They nailed a sign reading "Mt. Eden" to two trees, and the name stuck.

Alvarado, California

Old Alvarado (formerly, New Haven) is a former settlement in and former county seat of Alameda County, California, now annexed to Union City. It was located 5 miles north-northwest of downtown Newark. In 1851, Henry C. Smith founded the town of New Haven, named after his father's home town of New Haven, Connecticut. In 1853, the town amalgamated with a nearby town called Alvarado, and became the county of seat of the newly formed Alameda County.

Southland Mall (Hayward, California)

Southland Mall is a major shopping mall in Hayward, California, owned and managed by Rouse Properties after General Growth Properties spun off the mall and some of its other properties to form Rouse in 2012. The mall is primarily a single-level structure, with a small lower level beneath anchor retailer JC Penney, and free standing restaurants in the outlying parking areas. The center is located off I-880 at Winton Avenue, at the western end of the city.
