Kettleman City, California

Kettleman City is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kings County, California, United States. Kettleman City is located 28 miles southwest of Hanford, at an elevation of 253 feet (77 m). It is part of the Hanford–Corcoran Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,439 at the 2010 census, down from 1,499 at the 2000 census. It is near the halfway point between Los Angeles and San Francisco or Sacramento on Interstate 5 at Exit 309 and so is a major stopping point for food and lodging.

California's 20th congressional district

California's 20th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of California that from 2003-2013 covered parts of Fresno and Kern counties and all of Kings county. It contained most of the city of Fresno. The district is currently represented by Democrat Sam Farr. The district now is centered in the Central Coast and includes Monterey and Santa Cruz.

Cox & Clark Trading Post and Steamboat Landing

Cox & Clark Trading Post was an adobe building on the west shore of Tulare Lake. It was at that time the only building on that side of the lake and was located on the lakeshore three miles southwest of the modern Kettleman City. Established in 1870 by the meat market and cattle business of Cox and Clark as a trading-post for the Indians it also served as a landing place for steamboats on the west side of the lake.

Vaca Adobe

Vaca Adobe or Vaca Dugout is a former settlement in what was then Tulare County, now Kings County, California. It was located at stopping place on the eastern route of the El Camino Viejo about 3 miles north of the site of what is now Kettleman City close to the shore of Tulare Lake. The adobe at the site was known as the Vaca Dugout, and was built in 1863 by vaqueros Juan Perria and Pablo Vaca.

Kettleman North Dome Oil Field

The Kettleman North Dome Oil Field is a large oil and gas field in Kings and Fresno Counties, California. Discovered in 1928, it is fifteenth largest field in the state by total ultimate oil recovery, and of the top twenty oil fields it is the closest to exhaustion, with less than one-half of one percent of its total original oil remaining in place.
