McKittrick is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kern County, California, United States. McKittrick is located 14 miles northwest of Taft, at an elevation of 1056 feet (322 m). The population was 115 at the 2010 census, down from 160 at the 2000 census.

McKittrick Oil Field
The McKittrick Oil Field is a large oil and gas field in western Kern County, California. The town of McKittrick overlies the northeastern portion of the oil field. Recognized as an oil field in the 19th century, but known by Native Americans for thousands of years due to its tar seeps, the field is ranked 19th in California by total ultimate oil recovery, and has had a cumulative production of over 303 million barrels of oil. The principal operators of the field as of 2008 were Chevron Corp.

Derby Acres, California
Derby Acres is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kern County, California, United States. Derby Acres is located 5.5 miles north-northwest of Fellows, at an elevation of 1375 feet (419 m). The population was 322 at the 2010 census, down from 376 at the 2000 census. The town is on State Route 33 at the northern extremity of the Midway-Sunset Oil Field, about five miles (8 km) southeast of McKittrick.

At around the size of a domestic chicken, kiwi are by far the smallest living ratites and lay the largest egg in relation to their body size of any species of bird in the world.
