Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park

Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park belongs to the California State Historic Park system, a part of the California Department of Parks and Recreation. Malakoff Diggins is the site of California's largest hydraulic mines. It is a 26 mile (42 km) drive north-east of Nevada City, California in the Gold Rush country. The "canyon" is 7,000 feet long, as much as 3,000 feet wide, and nearly 600 feet deep in places.

Gold Canyon

Gold Canyon is located a few miles south of Alleghany, California, on the border between Sierra and Nevada Counties. The middle fork of the Yuba River flows through the canyon. Gold mining began in Gold Canyon in the early 1850s and has continued to present day. Three major gold mines are located here: German Bar Mine, Gold Canõn Mine, and Independent Mine. Before power was brought to the area, the nearby Plumbago Mine built a power plant on the river next to the present day bridge.

San Juan Ridge

The San Juan Ridge is a geographic feature extending approximately 24 miles east-northeast between the South and Middle Yuba Rivers in the foothills of the northern Sierra Nevada Mountains. The elevation is approximately 790 m (2,600 ft) above sea level.

Scotts Flat Reservoir

Scotts Flat Reservoir is an artificial lake in the Tahoe National Forest of Nevada County, California, 6.5 miles east of Nevada City. The lake is at an elevation of 3,100 ft and has a surface area of 850 acres, with 7.5 miles of shoreline lined with pine trees. Amenities consist of two launch ramps, a marina, campsites, a picnic area, sandy beaches, and a general store.
