USS Lucid (MSO-458)
USS Lucid (AM-458/MSO-458) was an Aggressive-class minesweeper acquired by the U.S. Navy for the task of removing mines that had been placed in the water to prevent the safe passage of ships. The second warship to be named Lucid by the Navy, AM-458 was laid down by Higgins Inc. Shipyard, New Orleans, Louisiana, 16 March 1953; launched 14 November 1953; sponsored by Mrs. Mary J. Barrow; reclassified MSO-458 on 7 February 1955; and commissioned 4 May 1955, Lt. J. H. Graham in command.

The Sacramento Deep Water Ship Channel (also known as Sacramento River Deep Water Ship Channel or SRDWSC) is a canal from the Port of Sacramento in Sacramento, California to the Sacramento River, which flows into San Francisco Bay. It was completed by the United States Army Corps of Engineers in 1963. The channel is about 30 feet (9 m) deep, 200 feet (61 m) wide and 43 miles (69 km) long.

Twitchell Island
Twitchell Island is an island in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta in Sacramento County, California, 35 kilometres southwest of Sacramento. At 2 metres below sea level, the 1,200 ha is bounded on the north by Seven Mile Slough, on the east and south by the San Joaquin River, and on the west by Three Mile Slough. The island is entirely within the Rio Vista Gas Field, although well pads and associated infrastructure make up only a small part of its land use.

Sherman Island is an island in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta at the confluence of the two rivers in Sacramento County, California, two kilometres northeast of Antioch. The 5,500 ha island is the meeting point of Sacramento-, Solano-, and Contra Costa-Counties, and is bordered on the north and northwest by the Sacramento River, on the northeast by Three Mile Slough, and on the east, and south west by the San Joaquin River.

Rio Vista Gas Field
The Rio Vista Gas Field is a large natural gas field in the Sacramento – San Joaquin River Delta in northern California. Discovered in 1936, and in continuous operation since, it has produced over 3.6 trillion cubic feet of gas in its lifetime, and retains an estimated reserve of approximately 330 billion cubic feet . In 2008 alone, the most recent year for which data was available, it produced 18 billion cubic feet of gas.
