Rancho La Jota

Rancho La Jota was a 4,454-acre Mexican land grant in present day Napa County, California given in 1843 by Governor Manuel Micheltorena to George C. Yount. La Jota literally means “the letter J” in Spanish, but the meaning of the name has been a cause of speculation.

Angwin-Parrett Field

Virgil O. Parrett Field or Angwin Airport is a public use airport located one nautical mile (1.85 km) east of the central business district of Angwin, in Napa County, California, United States. It is owned by Pacific Union College. It is also known as Angwin-Parrett Field Airport. In 2006, a plan was floated for Pacific Union College to divest the field by selling it for $27 million to the County of Napa.

Howell Mountain AVA

The Howell Mountain AVA is an American Viticultural Area located within Napa Valley AVA. Howell Mountain is located in the Vaca Mountains on the northeast side of Napa Valley around the town of Angwin, and overlooks the town of St. Helena, California. Designated an AVA in 1983, Howell Mountain was the first sub-appellation within Napa Valley AVA.

Duvall Lake

Duvall Lake is located in Pope Valley, east of the Napa Valley. It covers 17 acres and was completed in 1940. The ranch was settled in the late 1860s by the Duvall family who came by covered wagon. During the construction of the lake, the owner of the ranch was Donald Duvall and was sold in the late 1950s. The last Duvall in the Napa Valley was Vernon Duvall, who moved in 2003 to be closer to his daughter, Jeanne Duvall who lives in Loomis.
