The population was 24,280 at the 2010 census. Columbine High School, made infamous by two senior students named Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold in the April 20, 1999 massacre, is located in the Columbine CDP. Columbine High School massacre
The Columbine High School massacre was a school shooting which occurred on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School in Columbine, an unincorporated area of Jefferson County in the State of Colorado. Two senior students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, murdered a total of 12 students and one teacher. They injured 21 additional students, with three other people being injured while attempting to escape the school. The pair then committed suicide.

Chatfield Reservoir
Chatfield Reservoir and dam on the South Platte River south of Littleton, Colorado were built by the United States Army Corps of Engineers as a response to the disastrous flood of 1965. In addition to its primary purpose of flood control, it serves as one of many water supply reservoirs for the city of Denver, Colorado. Construction of the project was begun in 1967 and the dam was completed in 1975.
