The Town of Grand Lake is a Statutory Town located in Grand County, Colorado, United States. The population was 447 at the 2000 census. Established in 1881, Grand Lake sits at an elevation of 8437 feet (2572 m). It derives its name from the lake on whose shores it is situated: Grand Lake, the largest natural body of water in Colorado.

Grand Lake is Colorado's largest and deepest natural lake. It is located in the headwaters of the Colorado River in Grand County, Colorado. On its north shore is located the historic and eponymous town of Grand Lake. The lake fills a glaciated valley that is dammed in part by glacial till from the Pinedale Glaciation, and is younger than about 12,000 years.

Alva B. Adams Tunnel
The Alva B. Adams Tunnel is the principal component of the largest transmountain water project in Colorado--the Colorado-Big Thompson Project (C-BT). The tunnel transfers water from the western slope of the Colorado River drainage to users on the eastern Front Range of Colorado. The tunnel is 13.1 miles long and has a concrete lined diameter of 9.75 feet .

Colorado-Big Thompson Project
The Colorado-Big Thompson Project is a federal water diversion project in Colorado designed to collect West Slope mountain water from the headwaters of the Colorado River and divert it to Colorado's Front Range and plains. In Colorado, approximately 80% of the state's precipitation falls on the West Slope, in the Rocky Mountains, while around 80% of the state's growing population lives along the East Slope, between the cities of Fort Collins and Pueblo.
