Plainfield is a town in Windham County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 14,619 at the 2000 census. The town comprises four villages: Plainfield, Moosup (northeast, 06354), Wauregan (northwest, 06387), and Central Village (west, 06332). Each village has their own respective United States Post Office and fire department. The entire town is serviced by the 860 area code.

Moosup Valley State Park Trail

The Moosup Valley State Park Trail is a rail trail in Windham County, Connecticut. The trail is located on the railbed of a former New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad line. The rail line was abandoned in the late 1960s, and was designated by the state as a multi-use trail in 1987. The trail is owned and operated by the State of Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection.
