Souther Field

See: Jimmy Carter Regional Airport for the current civil use of the airfield Souther Field is a former military airfield, located 3.7 miles Northeast of Americus, Georgia. It was one of thirty-two Air Service training camps established after the United States entry into World War I in April 1917. After World War II, the property was sold to the city of Americus. Most of the airfield was developed into a civil airport.

Andersonville, Georgia

Andersonville is a city in Sumter County, Georgia, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 255. It is located in the southwest part of the state, about 60 miles southwest of Macon, Georgia on the Central of Georgia railroad. During the American Civil War, it was the site of a prisoner-of-war camp which is now Andersonville National Historic Site. Andersonville is part of the Americus Micropolitan Statistical Area.
