Lowndes County, Georgia

Lowndes County (pronounced Lounds) is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia along the Florida border. It was created December 23, 1825. As of the 2010 Census showed a population of 109,233. The county seat is Valdosta. It is the largest county in the Valdosta, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county is a major commercial, educational, and manufacturing center of south Georgia with considerable forest products including pulpwood and naval stores, such as turpentine and rosin.

Lowndes County Civic Center

The Lowndes County Civic Center is a 120 seat multi-purpose "arena". It was opened in 1969 and residents of Valdosta call it "The Rusted Steed". It is for elementary school, middle school and high school sport. It has also had the wrestling known as "SCW".
