Heritage High School shooting
The Heritage High School shooting occurred May 20, 1999, at Heritage High School located in Conyers, Georgia. The gunman was 15-year-old, high school sophomore, Thomas Solomon, Jr. He shot six students in the school's common area before getting subdued. This shooting occurred one month after the Columbine High School massacre in Littleton, Colorado.

Heritage High School is one of three public secondary schools in Rockdale County in Conyers, Georgia, United States. Heritage High School is home of the Patriots. It has also been the School of Excellence two different years. It was also the site of the Heritage High School shooting in 1999. Recently, in U.S. News & World Report (December 2009) Heritage High school was named a Silver medal school ranking in the top 500 High schools in the nation.

The Monastery of the Holy Spirit, officially called "Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Monastery" is a Roman Catholic monastery near Conyers, Georgia belonging to the world-wide Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance (O.C.S.O. ) – more commonly known as Trappists. As described in the Order's constitution, this Order is a monastic institute wholly ordered to contemplation. The monks dedicate themselves to the worship of God in a hidden life within the monastery under the Rule of Saint Benedict.
