Lake Blackshear

Lake Blackshear is a man-made lake on the Flint River in Georgia created by a dam that was constructed from 1925 to 1930. The Crisp County Power Dam, also known as the Warwick Dam, was the first county owned, constructed, and operated power dam in the United States, requiring an amendment to the Georgia State Constitution to make the project legally possible. It came online in August, 1930, under the authority of the Crisp County Power Commission.

WSST-TV is a locally-owned independent station in the South-Central Georgia town of Cordele, featuring news and other local programming for the region—more than any other station, plus top-rated syndicated fare, like Extra, Martha Stewart, Entertainment Tonight, The People's Court, Matlock and many more. Its digital signal only extends 50 miles (80 km) from Cordele, but it's seen on many cable systems in the region, including Albany and Perry.

Georgia Veterans State Park

Georgia Vererans State Park is a state park located on Lake Blackshear in Crisp County, west of Cordele, Georgia. It was established in 1931 as a memorial to U.S. Veterans. The 1,308-acre park features a museum with aircraft, vehicles, weapons, uniforms and other memorabilia dating from the Revolutionary War to the present.

Battle of Flint River

The Battle of Flint River was a failed attack by Spanish and Apalachee Indian forces against Creek Indians in October 1702 in what is now the state of Georgia. The battle was a major element in ongoing frontier hostilities between English traders from the Province of Carolina and Spanish Florida, and it was a prelude to more organized military actions of Queen Anne's War.
