Lake Decatur

Lake Decatur is a 2,800-acre reservoir located in the city of Decatur, Illinois, east of downtown. The city and lake both share the name of U.S. Navy \tCommodore Stephen Decatur. The lake is 613 feet above sea level. Lake Decatur has a watershed of 925 square miles (2,396 km² or 592,000 acres) spanning 7 counties. The largest lake on the Sangamon River, it was created in 1920-1922.

Fans Field (Decatur)

Fans Field was in Decatur, IL, and was home of the Decatur Commodores, of the Three-I League originally, and later of the Midwest League. It was at East Garfield and North Woodford Streets. It was one of the last of the wooden ballparks, a true throwback to its origin in the early 1920s. After the end of minor league ball in the city, those wooden stands were removed and the site was remade into a softball venue, retaining the name Fans Field. The old fence still stands past the new fence.
