Purdue University

Purdue University, located in West Lafayette, Indiana, U.S. , is the flagship university of the six-campus Purdue University system. Purdue was founded on May 6, 1869, as a land-grant university when the Indiana General Assembly, taking advantage of the Morrill Act, accepted a donation of land and money from Lafayette businessman John Purdue to establish a college of science, technology, and agriculture in his name.

Old Oaken Bucket

The Old Oaken Bucket is a traveling trophy awarded in American college football as part of the Indiana–Purdue rivalry between the Indiana Hoosiers football team of Indiana University and Purdue Boilermakers football team of Purdue University. It was first awarded in 1925. Purdue leads the overall series 72–37–6. The Boilermakers have won 13 of the last 16 games. Purdue won the 2012 contest 56–35 in West Lafayette.

Slayter Center of Performing Arts

Fort Ouiatenon

Fort Ouiatenon was the first fortified European settlement in what is now called Indiana. It was a French trading post on the Wabash River located approximately three miles southwest of modern-day West Lafayette. The name 'Ouiatenon' is a French rendering of the name in the Wea language, waayaahtanonki, meaning 'place of the whirlpool'. Every year a reenactment of pioneer life is held at the now rebuilt fort called Feast of the Hunters' Moon.
