Hammond Circus Train Wreck

The Hammond Circus Train Wreck occurred on June 22, 1918, and was one of the worst train wrecks in US history. Eighty-six people died and another 127 were injured when a locomotive engineer fell asleep and ran his train into the rear of another near Hammond, Indiana.

E. J. Block Athletic Field

E.J. Block Athletic Field is a stadium in East Chicago, Indiana. It is primarily used for baseball, and is the home field for Calumet College of St. Joseph's Crimson Wave Baseball team which play in the CCAC. It is also the home park of the East Chicago Central High School baseball team and the East Chicago Post 369 American Legion summer baseball team, respectively. It originally opened in 1942.
