Muscatine County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. The population was 42,745 in the 2010 census, an increase from 41,722 in the 2000 census. The county seat is Muscatine. The southeastern border is formed by the Mississippi River. Muscatine County is part of the Muscatine Micropolitan Statistical Area. Within the region, the county is considered part of the Greater Quad Cities region, which has a population of 422,435. This is not a federally recognized designation.
