Morningside College

Morningside College is a private, liberal arts college affiliated with the United Methodist Church located in Sioux City, Iowa. Founded in 1894 by the Methodist Episcopal Church, Morningside College is a private, four-year, co-educational liberal arts institution. Morningside has 21 buildings on a 68-acre campus in Sioux City (area population 143,157 in 2008.).

Floyd's Bluff

Floyd's Bluff is a hill in southern Sioux City, Iowa that is named for Sergeant Charles Floyd. Floyd, who was the quartermaster for the Lewis and Clark Expedition's Corps of Discovery, was the only fatality during the expedition. The bluff was Floyd's original burial site in 1804, and is now the location of a National Historic Landmark in his honor. The Floyd Monument is located above the east bank of the Missouri River, just downstream from the mouth of the Floyd River.

Lewis and Clark Park

Lewis and Clark Park is a stadium in Sioux City, Iowa. It is primarily used for baseball, and is the home field of the Sioux City Explorers minor league baseball team. It opened in 1993 and holds 3,631 people. The park is named for Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, leaders of the Lewis and Clark Expedition of the American West in 1804-1806. The expedition lost its only member, Charles Floyd, near present-day Sioux City.

Sioux City, Iowa

Sioux City is a city in Woodbury and Plymouth counties in the western part of the U.S. state of Iowa. The population was 82,695 in the 2010 census, which makes it the fourth largest city in Iowa. The bulk of the city is in Woodbury County, of which it is the county seat, though a small portion is in Plymouth County.
