United Airlines Flight 232

United Airlines Flight 232 was a scheduled flight from Stapleton International Airport in Denver, Colorado, to O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, with continuing service to Philadelphia International Airport. On July 19, 1989, the DC-10 operating the route crash-landed in Sioux City, Iowa, after suffering catastrophic failure of its tail-mounted engine, which led to the loss of all flight controls. 111 people died in the accident while 185 survived.

Lewis and Clark Park

Lewis and Clark Park is a stadium in Sioux City, Iowa. It is primarily used for baseball, and is the home field of the Sioux City Explorers minor league baseball team. It opened in 1993 and holds 3,631 people. The park is named for Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, leaders of the Lewis and Clark Expedition of the American West in 1804-1806. The expedition lost its only member, Charles Floyd, near present-day Sioux City.
