General Motors Fairfax Assembly Plant

Fairfax Assembly is a General Motors automobile factory at 3201 Fairfax Trafficway, Kansas City, Kansas. The present plant was opened in 1987 and currently produces the Chevrolet Malibu and the Buick LaCrosse. As of July 2006, the local Kansas City council is attempting to entice GM to produce a new mid-size vehicle here with $146,000,000 in bonds. Harbour Consulting rated it as the fourth most efficient auto plant in North America in 2006.

Platte Purchase Bridge

The Platte Purchase Bridge is a truss bridge over the Missouri River that handles northbound U.S. Route 69 from Kansas City, Kansas to Platte County, Missouri. Its sister bridge the Fairfax Bridge handles southbound traffic. It is part of the Seventh Street Trafficway between Fairfax, Kansas and Riverside, Missouri. It is named for the Platte Purchase. It was built in 1957 and previously was a toll bridge.

Fairfax Bridge (Missouri River)

The Fairfax Bridge is a truss bridge over the Missouri River that handles southbound U.S. Route 69 from Platte County, Missouri to Kansas City, Kansas. Its sister bridge the Platte Purchase Bridge handles northbound traffic. It is part of the Seventh Street Trafficway into Fairfax, Kansas. Ground was broken April 21, 1931. The bridge was completed September 27, 1934. It cost $600,000 and was previously a toll bridge. It is 2,486.5 feet long and has 13 spans on 15 piers.
