Barren River Lake State Resort Park

Barren River Lake State Resort Park is a 2,187 acre (8.85 km²) park located in Barren County, Kentucky and extending into parts of Allen County and Monroe County. Barren River Lake, its major feature, is an artificial lake created in 1964. It covers approximately 10,000 acres (40 km²) and has 140 miles of shoreline. The park was dedicated in 1965.

It was founded on December 20, 1798, from parts of Warren and Green Counties. It was named for the Barrens, the meadowlands that cover the northern third. As of 2010 the population was 42,173. Its county seat is Glasgow, Kentucky. The county is part of the Glasgow Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Barren River Lake

Barren River Lake is a 10,100 acres, reservoir in Kentucky created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1964 by impounding the Barren River. The lake occupies parts of Allen, Barren, and Monroe counties. The Barren River Lake Dam is an earthen dam, 146 feet high and 3970 feet long at its crest. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is responsible for operation and maintenance of the project, and responsible for protection of the resource. A small segment of the property owned by the U.S.
