Owsley County, Kentucky
Owsley County is a county located in the Eastern Mountain Coal Fields region of Kentucky. As of 2010, the population was 4,755. According to the 2010 Census reports, Owsley County is the "poorest county in the United States'" Its county seat is Booneville and it is a dry county. The county was organized Jan 23, 1843 from Clay, Estill, and Breathitt counties and named for William Owsley (1782–1862), the judge of the KY Court of Appeals and Governor of Kentucky (1844–48).

It is located at the junction of Kentucky Route 11 and Kentucky Route 30 on the South Fork of the Kentucky River. The town was named for American frontiersman, Daniel Boone. The town, consisting at the time of little more than a temporary log courthouse, became the county seat when Owsley County was formed on May 20, 1844.

Turkey is an unincorporated settlement in Breathitt County, Kentucky. It is located on Kentucky Route 30, between the settlements of Lerose and Shoulderblade. Turkey lies on Terry Fork, a tributary to Turkey Creek, which is itself a tributary to the Middle Fork Kentucky River. The fork forms a valley known as Deadening Hollow.
