Kentucky State Penitentiary

The Kentucky State Penitentiary, also known as the "Castle on the Cumberland," is a maximum security supermax prison with capacity for 856 prisoners located in Eddyville, Kentucky on Lake Barkley on the Cumberland River, about 3 miles from downtown Eddyville. It is managed by the Kentucky Department of Corrections. Completed in 1886, it is Kentucky's oldest prison facility and the only state-owned facility with supermax units.

Mineral Mound State Park

Mineral Mound State Park is a park located on the shores of Lake Barkley in Lyon County, Kentucky, United States. The 541 acres park contains a 18 hole golf course and a clubhouse. Mineral Mound is named after the mansion of Willis B. Machen, which formerly stood on the property.

Western Kentucky Correctional Complex

Western Kentucky Correctional Complex is a minimum and medium-security prison located in Lyon County, near Fredonia, Kentucky. It opened in 1977 and had a prison population of 650 as of 2007. Prior to 2010, the facility held male inmates. Due to the 2010 conversion of the private Otter Creek Correctional Facility into a male facility, WKCC was converted into a facility that houses female inmates.
