Pleasant Hill, Kentucky

Pleasant Hill, Kentucky, USA, is the site of a Shaker religious community that was active from 1805 to 1910. Following a preservationist effort that began in 1961, the site, now a National Historic Landmark, has become a popular tourist destination. Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, or Shakertown, as it is known by residents of the area, is located 25 miles (40 km) southwest of Lexington, in Kentucky's Bluegrass region. It is a National Historic Landmark District.

High Bridge of Kentucky

High Bridge is a currently used railroad bridge linking the steep palisades on either side of the Kentucky River between Jessamine County, Kentucky and Mercer County, Kentucky. Constructed in 1876, it is a three-span continuous under-deck truss used by Norfolk Southern Railway to carry trains between Lexington, Kentucky and Harrodsburg, Kentucky. It is a National Civil Engineering Landmark.

High Bridge, Kentucky

High Bridge is a small unincorporated community in Jessamine County, Kentucky, United States. It lies along the lower reaches of the Kentucky River near the confluence of the Dix River with the Kentucky. The community is part of the Lexington–Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is noted for High Bridge, a nearly 300 foot high railroad bridge over the Kentucky River which gives the community its name.

Dix River

The Dix River is a 79.3-mile-long tributary of the Kentucky River in central Kentucky in the United States. It begins in western Rockcastle County, about 5 miles west of Mount Vernon. It flows generally northwest, in a tight meandering course, passing north of Stanford and east of Danville. Northwest of Danville it is impounded by the Dix Dam to form the Herrington Lake reservoir.
