Boyd County, Kentucky

Boyd County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It was formed in 1860. Its 160 square miles are found at the northeastern edge of the state the near the Ohio River and Big Sandy River, nestled in the verdant rolling hills of Appalachia. The county seat is Catlettsburg. Its largest municipality is the city of Ashland. The population was 49,542 in the 2010 Census. Boyd County is part of the Huntington-Ashland, WV-KY-OH, Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).

WYHY is a radio station licensed to serve Cannonsburg, Kentucky, USA. The station is owned by Big River Radio, Inc. WDGG

WDGG is one of several country music formatted radio stations in the Huntington, West Virginia, Ashland, Kentucky, and Ironton, Ohio, market area. Although the Dawg's studios are located in Huntington, its city of license is Ashland following the original Federal Communications Commission (FCC) allocation of its predecessor WCMI-FM. The Dawg is the flagship station of the Marshall University sports radio network.

Boyd County Middle School

Boyd County Middle School is a public middle school located in Ashland, Kentucky. The school has 69 staff and faculty members and 727 students in grades 6 to 8. It is part of the Boyd County Public Schools school district. Boyd County Middle School opened in 1976. Construction on the school began in 1975. The name choice for the school mascot was either the "Patriots" or the "Rebels. " The students chose the Rebels, they have now changed their mascot to the Wildcats.
