Cotton Valley is a town in central Webster Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 1,009 at the 2010 census, a decrease of 180 persons, or 15 percent, from the 2000 tabulation. Cotton Valley is located some twenty miles northwest of the parish seat of Minden.

Webster Parish, Louisiana

Webster Parish is a parish located in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The seat of the parish is Minden. In 2010, the Webster Parish population was officially tabulated as 41,207; the 2011 estimate is 41,288. One in three persons in Webster Parish is African American. Among the first settlers in Webster Parish was Newett Drew, a native of Virginia, who about 1818 established a grist mill at the former Overton community near Minden.

Sarepta, Louisiana

Sarepta is a town in Webster Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 925 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Minden Micropolitan Statistical Area. Sarepta was named for the town's first church's benefactor, Sarepta Carter. Local history tells that Mrs. Carter donated a Bible to the community church on the premise that it be named for her. Years later the church split, and the original name became Old Sarepta. The new congregation became New Sarepta.

Caney Lakes Recreation Area

Not to be confused with another Caney Lake at Jimmie Davis State Park southwest of Chatham in Jackson Parish, Louisiana Caney Lakes Recreation Area, located in the Kisatchie National Forest north of Minden in Webster Parish in northwestern Louisiana, offers opportunities for bicycling, hiking, picnicking, camping, swimming, boating, water skiing, fishing, and hunting. A triathlon is held annually in August.

KASO

KASO is a radio station broadcasting a Classic Hits format. Licensed to Minden, Louisiana, USA, the station serves the Shreveport-Bossier City Metropolitan Area. It is currently owned by the Greenwood Acres Baptist Church of Shreveport. The station is located in Minden at 410 Lakeshore Drive on the eastern end of Turner's Pond near the E.S. Richardson Elementary School. It was launched in the early 1950s under the call letters KAPK. For decades, it was owned by the late H. Boe Cook and M. S.
