Greenwood, Louisiana

Greenwood is a town in southern Caddo Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 2,458 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Shreveport-Bossier City Metropolitan Statistical Area. Greenwood was established in 1839. During the Battle of Mansfield in April 1864, Confederate wounded were treated at the Dunn House, now used as the headquarters of the local chamber of commerce.

The Gardens of the American Rose Center

The Gardens of the American Rose Center (118 acres) are botanical gardens located in Shreveport, Louisiana and dedicated to rose varieties. They have been the headquarters of the American Rose Society since 1974 when it moved to Louisiana from Columbus, Ohio. The gardens include some 20,000 rose varieties, arranged in 65 individual gardens such as ones featuring the newest rose hybrids, All-America Rose Selections, miniature roses, single petaled roses, etc.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Shreveport (Latin: Dioecesis Sreveportuensis in Louisiana) is a Roman Catholic diocese located in northwestern Louisiana, and a suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of New Orleans. It is under the governance of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and belongs to Conference Region V (which includes Alabama, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee). Its mother church is the Cathedral of Saint John Berchmans, in Shreveport.
