CenturyLink Center

The CenturyLink Center (formerly CenturyTel Center and Bossier City Arena) is a 14,000-seat multi-purpose arena, in Bossier City, Louisiana. The naming rights were purchased by the telephone company CenturyLink of Monroe, Louisiana. Opened in 2000 during the administration of then Bossier City Mayor George Dement, the center is among several projects financed from revenues derived from three casinos in the city.

Louisiana State University in Shreveport

Louisiana State University in Shreveport (LSU Shreveport or LSUS) is a branch of the Louisiana State University System in Shreveport, Louisiana. Opened in 1967, LSUS is the only public four-year university in the Shreveport-Bossier metro area. The school, with more than 4,600 students, is a multipurpose system of higher education, accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and exerting a major influence on the economic, social, and cultural life of its citizens.

Hamel's Amusement Park

Hamel's Amusement Park was one of the few amusement parks located in the state of Louisiana for more than 35 years. Located in Shreveport, it was relatively small and yet hugely popular. People from across the state would visit its giant Ferris wheel or its roller coaster. A log flume was also added later to round out the large ride attractions. During the early years it had a train ride that covered the back end of the property, where zebras, elephants, and other zoo animals roamed.

Barksdale Air Force Base

Barksdale Air Force Base (AFB) is a United States Air Force base located approximately 4.72 miles east-southeast of Bossier City, Louisiana. The host unit at Barksdale is the 2d Bomb Wing (2 BW), the oldest Bomb Wing in the Air Force. It is assigned to the Air Force Global Strike Command's (AFGSC) Eighth Air Force (8 AF).

Eighth Air Force Museum

The Barksdale Global Power Museum, formerly known as the Eight Air Force Museum, is located on Barksdale AFB near Bossier City, Louisiana and is hosted by the 2nd Bomb Wing. The mission of the museum is to preserve the heritage and traditions of the Air force, specifically the 2nd Bomb Wing, Barksdale AFB, and the mission of the Bomber.
