Lake Bistineau

Lake Bistineau is a long, narrow waterway of 15,550 acres, 1.25 miles wide and 14 miles long located in Webster, Bossier, and Bienville parishes in northwestern Louisiana. The lake is fed by Dorcheat Bayou, Clark’s Bayou, and other smaller streams. Bistineau is connected to the Red River and hence the Mississippi through Loggy Bayou.

Louisiana State University in Shreveport

Louisiana State University in Shreveport (LSU Shreveport or LSUS) is a branch of the Louisiana State University System in Shreveport, Louisiana. Opened in 1967, LSUS is the only public four-year university in the Shreveport-Bossier metro area. The school, with more than 4,600 students, is a multipurpose system of higher education, accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and exerting a major influence on the economic, social, and cultural life of its citizens.

CenturyLink Center

The CenturyLink Center (formerly CenturyTel Center and Bossier City Arena) is a 14,000-seat multi-purpose arena, in Bossier City, Louisiana. The naming rights were purchased by the telephone company CenturyLink of Monroe, Louisiana. Opened in 2000 during the administration of then Bossier City Mayor George Dement, the center is among several projects financed from revenues derived from three casinos in the city.

Hamel's Amusement Park

Hamel's Amusement Park was one of the few amusement parks located in the state of Louisiana for more than 35 years. Located in Shreveport, it was relatively small and yet hugely popular. People from across the state would visit its giant Ferris wheel or its roller coaster. A log flume was also added later to round out the large ride attractions. During the early years it had a train ride that covered the back end of the property, where zebras, elephants, and other zoo animals roamed.
