Castor is a village in Bienville Parish in north Louisiana, USA. The population was 209 at the 2000 census but increased 23 percent to 258 in 2010. The median age is 32.2 years. The village was established in 1900. The name "Castor" refers to the genus Castoridae beaver. Castor's Zip Code is 71016, and its telephone numbers start with 544. Both of these numbers are also used in the adjacent communities of Alberta, Roy, New Ramah, Ashland, and New Hope.

Kepler Lake
Kepler Lake is a reservoir located in Northwest Louisiana, USA. It is about 5 miles from Castor, 4 miles from Jamestown, 6 miles from Bienville and about 12 miles from Gibsland, Louisiana. Kepler is an open lake available for fishing and boating. Kepler's spillway drains into Black Lake Bayou which drains into Black Lake in Natchitoches Parish. Piney Woods Road is the only road that crosses Kepler. The Kepler spillway is located on the south side of the lake.

Bienville Parish (French: Paroisse de Bienville) is a parish located in the northwestern portion of the U.S. state of Louisiana. The parish seat is Arcadia. In the 2010 census, the Bienville Parish population is 14,353, a decrease of 1,399, or nearly 9 percent, from the 2000 tabulation of 15,752. Bienville Parish is 42 percent African American. The highest natural point in Louisiana, a hill known as Mt. Driskill, 535 feet in elevation, is located in north central Bienville Parish.
