Saline, Louisiana

Saline is a village in southeastern Bienville Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 296 at the 2000 census. Saline is pronounced: (Suh-leen). Jamie Fair, a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1980–1984, resides between Saline and Castor off Louisiana Highway 9. Former Second Judicial District Court Judge David T. Caldwell (1925–1993), based in Jonesboro, was born in Saline and graduated from Saline High School in 1942.

Ashland is a village incorporated in 1963 which is located in the northernmost portion of Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana, United States. A few residences and a convenience store to the north spill over into neighboring Bienville Parish. The population was 291 at the 2000 census but declined 9 percent to 269 in 2010. The median age is 45.7 years. Ashland is part of the Natchitoches Micropolitan Statistical Area but is located nearly forty miles to the north of the parish seat of Natchitoches.

Bienville Parish (French: Paroisse de Bienville) is a parish located in the northwestern portion of the U.S. state of Louisiana. The parish seat is Arcadia. In the 2010 census, the Bienville Parish population is 14,353, a decrease of 1,399, or nearly 9 percent, from the 2000 tabulation of 15,752. Bienville Parish is 42 percent African American. The highest natural point in Louisiana, a hill known as Mt. Driskill, 535 feet in elevation, is located in north central Bienville Parish.
