Wilson, who held Louisiana's 5th congressional district seat from 1915 to 1937, resided in Harrisonburg, where he was principal of Harrisonburg High School and then an attorney, district attorney, and state district court judge prior to his election to Congress.

Long-Allen Bridge (Harrisonburg)
The Long-Allen Bridge is a truss bridge carrying Highway 8 across the Ouachita River at Harrisonburg in Catahoula Parish. This is the only point where Louisiana 8 crosses the Ouachita River in Louisiana. The structure is considered to be in "Poor Standing" by the Louisiana DOTD.

Jonesville, Louisiana
Jonesville is a town in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana, at the confluence of the Ouachita, Tensas, and Little rivers. The three rivers become the Black River at Jonesville though the "Black" is primarily the continuation of the Ouachita River. A new bridge has been built over the Black River. After some miles, the Black flows into the Red River. The Jonesville population was 2,469 at the 2000 census. The parish seat is Harrisonburg to the north, which is actually smaller than Jonesville.
